Banks in Action
This program is designed to give high school students the opportunity to understand the world of banking. Through a fast-paced series of activities, the students learn the fundamentals of borrowing and lending money as well as the impact of interest rates on banks and customers. Negotiation and decision making skills are put to the test!
Sessions include: Banking in Canada: examines the role of the Bank of Canada, banking institutions in Canada, the bank rate of interest and interest accrual. Role Play #1 & 2: student bank teams investigate the impact of interest reates on short and long term savings and loans. Students play the roles of loan officers and individual loan applicants to assess the loan risk and achieve a favourable interest spread.
The Objectives - educate students about banking through interactive and team-oriented activities in a risk-free environment
